Summer Fun 2014

 Aquarium train.  The afternoon heat was pretty oppressive by then and we were very
happy to be somewhere with a breeze.

From here on out, all pictures are from our Colorado trip that we took

 the first week of August.

 

First we visited the Littleton museum which show how farms worked in the 1860s and 1890s.

Blacksmith shop.  He gave a great demonstration on how to shape
metal, and even let the kids help.

Our ride was a bit rainy, but gorgeous.  Holly fell asleep on my lap ten minutes into
 the hour long ride, which made me very happy.  We no longer had to worry about her
 leaping out of the window to a rocky death. Max thought the whole experience was very boring,
 but to be honest, I didn't care.  I love trains!

Tiny Town.  A fun little 2 hour experience for the kids.

We stayed the second night at their home in Ken Caryl. 

Some "castle" ruins on our hike.  Originally, it was a luxury home, but after only ten years,
in 1918 it got struck by lightning and burned down.

We spent a day at the Beer and Bluegrass Festival in Keystone where
 they had lots of activities for kids.

Our Condo in Keystone where we stayed for three nights.  It was spacious,
well-stocked, and beautiful.

Texas kids did not like the cold stream water at first, but they got used to it.

Snow in the summer!  Far out.

The coolest building ever at Silver Plume.  There are a lot of human inhabited buildings in the old mining town,
 but many well preserved "ghost town" buildings as well.

Finally!  Holly got to ride a horse.  She didn't care much that it wasn't real.

FHE in front of the Denver temple.  There were a few temple bunnies roaming the grounds which allowed our kids to chase them around for an hour.

Our old friends, Jeff and Lori Poulson.  We stayed at their home in Centennial on our last night. Great hosts and great conversations.

 

May 2014

We passed up this car on the way to San Antonio.  Zoom in, it's worth it.
