spin, dance, and cacoon

This is Max's happy dance. We have to put the chairs in the living room if we don't want him to climb onto the table, and he thinks we've made him his own personal park.

With Grandma Clark's help, I was able to make some dress up skirts for Mallory last week. She doesn't think a skirt is cool unless it flies up when she twirls. Yes, I get vicarious pleasure out of making her dress-up clothes. That's something I never fully grew out of.
Victoria, Mallory is excited for you to teach her some real ballet moves and she wants Savannah to show her how to put on makeup when you come visit us.

Last but not least, our furry friend, the puss caterpillar finally came out of his cacoon. We thought he didn't make it because it looked all shriveled and it's been a few months. Mallory was in deep amazement that it actually worked, and was reluctant to let him go. Honestly, I felt like I should have secretly squished him to keep him from reproducing more noxious pests. But that would have been silly after harboring him all winter, and I'm also a sucker for living things.
Plus, I heard that sighting the adult version of this little guy is rare so I felt pretty cool. I included a before picture. I don't think he changed much, but I'm sure the moth chics will find him attractive. Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, yes, I'm a nerd.

splish splash

This is a great bath time photo of the kids, especially that it's nothing they'll be embarrassed about when they're teenagers.

There and back again, a max tale

Max macaroni

Max has mastered the fork technique. I am VERY excited that this is one meal he can eat all on his own.

family portaits

Here are the pictures we took at JC Penny's after a three year absence. Mallory was very keen on posing, but Max lasted through 10 minutes of repositioning and feather duster tickling before he decided that modeling is for dummies. Luckily, we did the important poses first. Oh and Mallory's hair? That's natural curl with a little hairspray coaxing. Mommy's hair took a wee bit longer. As my Grandma Clark says, "We've got natural.....hair."
